Money can’t buy happiness

As move along in our Ecclesiastes, Solomon continues looking for that happiness that continues to elude him, he now builds massive aqueducts and has legions of servants to serve him:

Ecc 2:6  I made ponds of water for myself from which to irrigate a forest of growing trees.

Ecc 2:7  I bought male and female slaves and I had homeborn slaves. Also I possessed flocks and herds larger than all who preceded me in Jerusalem.

Not only was Solomon waited on hand and foot, but his assets exceeded any other Kings who came before him.  He was the richest king and didn’t have to busy himself with menial labor, he had servants to handle all that for him.  This goes to show us that paying someone else to do unfun work for us doesn’t bring about happiness either!
