Solomon: Happiness isn’t found in gratification

In Solomon’s long and endless journey in finding happiness, Solomon now turns to gratifying his desires.  In this case, it is wealth and women!

Like Al Pacino’s character Tony Montana said in the movie Scarface; “you get the money, then when you get the money, you get the power, then when you get the power, you get get the women”

Here’s what Solomon says on the matter:

Ecc 2:8  Also, I collected for myself silver and gold and the treasure of kings and provinces. I provided for myself male and female singers and the pleasures of men—many concubines.

So it sounds like Solomon has found the American Dream!  But just like in the movie Scarface, that happiness is fake.

King Solomon likened his rock star-celebrity lifestyle to being as vain and meaningless as the other things he tried like learning and building.

We should definitely take note of this in our current climate, where music and movies suggest that a million dollar lifestyle full of fame and fortune bring happiness, because in the fictitious movie Scarface it didn’t bring happiness, nor in God’s Word per Solomon does wealth make one happy.
