Life is short, but Heaven is eternal

Moving through our Ecclesiastes Chapter 2 study, Solomon may sound cynical, but he is also brutally honest in his assessment of life:

Ecc 2:16  For there is no lasting remembrance of the wise man as with the fool, inasmuch as in the coming days all will be forgotten. And how the wise man and the fool alike die!

Ecc 2:17  So I hated life, for the work which had been done under the sun was grievous to me; because everything is futility and striving after wind.

After all the different approaches to living life that Solomon took; be in being sensible or living on the edge, the end result is the same…we are all bound for the grave, some sooner than others, but that is the one common denominator that we all have.  Here Solomon expresses his frustration with trying all of these different lifestyles, to Solomon, in hindsight, it was all a waste of time, because both the wise and the foolish paths, still lead to the grave.

It is a depressing reality we must come to terms with, our lives all come with term limits, but on the bright side; God’s kingdom is eternal, Christ’s life has shown us that, let us always remember His sacrifice, especially today.
