A time to be quiet and a time to speak.

Fashion trends spanning time and when we should and shouldn’t open are mouths are what Solomon talks on today in our Ecclesiastes.

Ecc 3:7  A time to tear and a time to mend. A time to be quiet and a time to speak.

Believer it or not, even back in the days of Solomon, there were fashion trends.  Different fashion trends have come across time, at the moment, people seem to wear the least amount of clothes possible, but just 200 years ago, overdressing and exposing literally zero skin was the norm, like the missionaries.

A time to be quiet and a time to speak…another great pearl of wisdom in this digital age that we find ourselves in.  Too often we don’t heed this advice and want to give our “hot-takes” on a situation that has nothing to do with us.  Careful discernment should be exercised before opening our mouths, or in today’s case: clicking the comment button!

On the other hand, there is a time to speak out – the German’s who lived under Hitler will largely be remembered for their cowardice.  They knew what was happening to the Jews in Germany, yet didn’t speak up when they should have.  As Edmund Burke once said, the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.
