Our devotional today points out that God’s Providence has already determined the course our lives will take, and man, being created by the creator, has no say in the matter
Ecc 6:10 Everything has already been decided. It was known long ago what each person would be. So there’s no use arguing with God about your destiny.
If we think about the potter and the clay, God is the potter and we are the clay, and who are we to argue with the infinite Person of God who created us?
That certainly makes plenty of sense, yet man is stubborn, and rather submitting to God, man wants to be God and determine his own destiny. Examples of this include our vain desire to fight the aging process. Industries make millions of dollar each year selling a lie of reversing the aging process through plastic surgery, reverse hair growth, hair dyes, magical blue pills and the list goes on, yet as the scripture tells us, God has already decided that we were born, will live for a while and then die, and as the Word reminds us; there’s no use arguing with God about your destiny. As Proverbs 16:9 tells us “We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps”
