As we grow older in age, our mortality becomes more evident.  It seems like with each passing year, people who we were once close to, are no longer with us, today’s verse shows us that we should take these matters to heart — 

Ecc 7:2  It is better to go to the house of mourning than to go to the house of feasting, for this is the end of all mankind, and the living will lay it to heart.

Going to funerals instead of going to parties helps to keep us on our toes and remind us that we are all headed to the grave, and as we contemplate this eventuality, we should remember that the only One who beat death was Jesus, and we will be united with Him when we put our faith in Him after this life ends.
