Solomon hits us with a poignant reminder on the benefit of Wisdom…we keep in mind that the Biblical definition is living in Fear of the Lord, knowing that God is real and we are to serve Him in all of our different walks of life.
Here is what he tells happens when God extends His grace to us and opens up our hearts to give us faith in Him:
Ecc 8:1 Who is like the wise? And who knows the interpretation of a thing? A man’s wisdom makes his face shine, and the hardness of his face is changed.
Honing in on the second half of that verse, wisdom makes a person’s face shine and takes away their cynical outlook…
If you have ever talked to a Christian, you’ll notice that more often than not they are typically very happy regardless of their station in life. Maybe they aren’t millionaires or celebrities or the other things that we are supposed to covet, that’s because they have wisdom, they realize that they are just travelers through this life, passing through a temporary place on to the eternal one that comes next.
Now we can all get anxious or angry at times, that is just part of our fallen nature, but the overall constitution of a Christian is generally a positive one, because someone who is in the Lord is aware that everything that is happening around us is according to His will, we don’t really have a say in any of it.
Jesus explain this is John 3:14-15 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.
That wisdom which comes from believing in Christ’s work is what frees us from our sins, and we come to terms with the reality that we are just moving from one destination to the next which is as Solomon says, cause to make one’s face light up from being hard hearted or always being pessimistic.
