Solomon says that success often comes at being at the right place at the right time in today’s Word:
Ecc 9:11 I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time.
God’s providence, or the events that He ordains are why things happen the way that they do, there’s a lot of things we just don’t control.
We often hear the phrase control the controllables, and being prudent, saving up for a rainy day, or making sure our affairs are in order, and that’s all well and good to help us navigate our lives on a day to day basis, but there are also other events that we just don’t see coming.
As the text tells us; just because someone is educated or has a certain skill set, doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll go on to be millionaires.
Someone who exercises everyday and eats the healthiest foods available won’t always live to 80, they could get hit by a bus tomorrow.
At the end of the day, God is sovereign, He determines when things are going to happen and when, a lot of these elements are beyond our own control. A great reminder that God is above man, not the other way around!
