Giving Life 110%

Here mid-way through the work-week we get a good verse that reminds us the importance of keeping busy, by warning us against laziness

Ecc 10:18  Through indolence the rafters sag, and through slackness the house leaks.

That’s telling us that laziness and idleness cause a house to fall by the way side because the homeowner didn’t stay on top of it.  Anyone who lives on their own, can tell you that maintaining a house is a constant chore, especially if you live where there is severe weather or termites.  The loafer can’t be asked to keep up with the repairs and as a result the house looks beaten down from the outside and leaking from within.

Laziness and just sitting around the house all day are behaviors we should try and avoid, one idiom tells us, “Idol hands are the devil’s workshop”

Paul the Apostle also speaks out on this in Colossians 3:24-25 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.

This also applies to governments, this section of scripture is focused on the different types of Kings, you have the noble Kings and then the Kings that are corrupt.  Broken down infrastructure like bad roads, poor Government services are usually tied in with bad leaders.  Instead of focusing on fixing problems, these bad governments are lazy and idle and would rather use tax payer dollars to enrich themselves.

So we should avoid laziness in all facets of our life, both leaders and average Joe’s, and give it 100% , if it is one the job, or at home, we should work hard, not halfway.  That means going the extra mile, putting forth that added effort and paying attention to the small details.
