Some sage advice for the youth in today’s Word…something we should take note of because we might young, or we might be parents, so here is some good wisdom to impart on young people as God has spelled it out in the Bible:
Ecc 11:9 Young people, it’s wonderful to be young! Enjoy every minute of it. Do everything you want to do; take it all in. But remember that you must give an account to God for everything you do.
Solomon here is saying, live it up, because are youth comes and is gone before you know it, but more importantly, what we do in our youth and our entire lives is seen by God, and we will have to stand for what we have done.
We can hide our sin from others, but there is no hiding it from God, He sees everything, and sin makes God incredibly angry, we just look at how Israel had to suffer for their sins in the Old Testament, they were invaded by Bablyon and lost everything! However, God in His mercy sent His Son Christ into the world to become our sin, put it to death and rose Him up on the 3rd day as a way to offer us a way forward through putting our trust in Jesus. That means Giving up our sinful ways and living to please Him and not ourselves.
So while this section of scripture is targeting youth, it actually applies to us all, we should enjoy our lives, but also remember that we will be accountable to God for how we lived. The best way to live is to live wisely, and as we learn from the Proverbs, Wisdom comes from living in Fear of The Lord, once that worldview is in forefront of our minds, we can’t go wrong!
