Solomon continues his messaging for the youth today and urges them to live a God Fearing approach to life, even in our younger days when we are especially vulnerable to sin.
Ecc 12:1 Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near when you will say, “I have no delight in them”;
The takeaway here is that the evil days are those years beyond middle age when we are addled with aches, pains, illnesses etc…don’t wait for the deathbed to get right with God. A lot of people who skip out on church or prayer think, “I’ll get right with the Lord when I’m ready…” or later on in life.
Solomon today warns against this…death comes like a thief in the night, we have no idea when it is arriving, no one can predict their final day here on earth and in the twilight of our lives, we can’t serve our creator as effectively as when we were young and more limber.
So the preacher instructs us, Act now before it’s too late. Bad health and even death come on God’s terms, not man’s. Again, we are poignantly reminded that is God who ultimately runs the show, not us!
