Checking in now with our Psalms and today’s verse asks an interesting question:
Psa 2:1 Why are the nations in an uproar And the peoples devising a vain thing?
The psalmist is asking, what is the point of the different people of the world rebelling against God and scheming some sort of pointless plan?
To give this some perspective, this would be like a small colony of ants trying to overtake a human…when all the human needs to do is spray some D-D-T on the ant hill and poof…no more ants!
That is like what is happening today, people refuse to submit to God’s sovereign authority, and are woefully in error. God is going to have the last say, because God is God, the creation cannot tell the creator what’s what..but sadly, that is situation that we are in. There are all sorts of scientists and world leaders that think they can somehow reverse God’s divine plan and make humanity’s destiny their own without realizing that God is going to to have the final word.
So to give circle back to to our Psalm, Why are the masses so angry and scheming against God? It is because of that original sin that came from the fall of Adam in the garden of Eden, ever since that has happened, humanity has been in a state of sin, decade after decade and century after century doing bad things to one another, even Christians, pastors and leaders, who may think we have it all figured out, still slip up from time to time, they are as broken as the rest of us, the only thing that can cure that brokenness and state of rebellion is Jesus, who was without sin, but became sin on our behalf, was put to death, but then defeated death when He rose on the 3rd day.
A humbling truth that reminds us that us humans can’t tell God what is what, God is the One driving the bus, and He also loves us so much, that He sent His Son to die for us, so that our rebellion would be made known to us, for us to realize our state of sin, to put it aside, and be forgiven when we put our trust in Jesus.
