Knowing Humility through God’s Word — Psa 5:7  I will bow down toward your holy temple in the fear of you.

After yesterday reading about David foes, and just evil people in general, we learn that evil people tend to speak slander, lie, and are proud…when we say proud, meaning that they have a high opinion of themselves.

Today’s Word gives us the other end of the spectrum…righteousness and we see that through David’s humility:

Psa 5:7  But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love, will enter your house. I will bow down toward your holy temple in the fear of you.

Taking note here that David is humbly bowing down to God, he doesn’t think he is God’s equal, or important enough to break God’s laws, like his wicked adversaries, he is on his hands and knees going to God.

David also attributes his humility to God, not himself.    Speaking of humility, Jesus talks on humility in the different Gospels when He tells us, the humble will be lifted, and the proud will be brought low, or the first will be last and the last shall be first in the kingdom of heaven.

So the takeaway here is that the humble are the righteous one’s and they’ll inherit the kingdom of heaven, while the wicked in this life might be at the top of the food chain in the here and now, but God will bring them low, because God runs the show, and God hates pride.

Psa 5:7  But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love, will enter your house. I will bow down toward your holy temple in the fear of you.
