Our dependence on God as outlined in Psa 5:8  O LORD, lead me in Your righteousness because of my foes; Make Your way straight before me.

Today’s Word gives us some important wisdom on how we cannot be good on our own, and we see this in David’s Psalm today.  David is fleeing from his enemies at the time, he is running for his life, so that should give us some of the context that this Psalm was written in, but it is also accents how we must lean upon God for wisdom, we aren’t going to find it by ourselves, it is Him who paves the way:

Psa 5:8  O LORD, lead me in Your righteousness because of my foes; Make Your way straight before me.

If we think of a sheep that wanders off its path, the shepherd puts his back on the right track, the sheep doesn’t know where to go, he is relying on a a higher power, in this case, the human shepherd or herder to guide him.  So is the case with us, instinctively we are gonna get into trouble and sin thanks to our human nature, we need to rely on God to light up our path, and that’s what David is asking here; lead me in Your righteousness and make Your way straight before me, because we in essence are lost sheep too, in need of Christ, the True shepherd!
