Psalms 7:12  If a man does not repent, God will sharpen His sword;

As we kick off a new week here in the Psalms, God’s Word delivers a dangerous warning for those who do not repent:

Psa 7:12  If a man does not repent, God will sharpen His sword; God has bent His bow and made it ready.

Psa 7:13  God has also prepared for Himself deadly weapons; He makes His arrows fiery shafts.

Before we go into this we should establish what it means to repent.  According to Merriam Webster, repent means “to feel or show that you are sorry for something bad or wrong that you did and that you want to do what is right”

In other words, not openly or habitually do get up to bad stuff!  The one who habitually sins and celebrates it, is in for a rude awakening, as the text points out, God has sharpened His Sword for those who don’t feel remorse when they sin.

Speaking of feeling remorse when we sin, that’s that feeling of guilty when we have done something wrong that offends God.  Christ says, blessed are those who are poor in spirit, meaning that those who feel that regret for dishonoring God and who put their trust in Christ’s work on the cross —  that takes away our bad deeds and gives us a path forward, will be blessed…but before we can receive His love we have to humble our hearts, knowing that we can’t get it right on our own, we are always gonna want to get into bad stuff, that’s just our nature, but Christ shows us the way, He reveals our fallen ways to us and conforms us into His image, when we go to Him.  As Peter says, cast your cares upon Jesus, for His burden is light.  Put our cares upon His shoulders and accept the fact that all of these things we are going through is according to His divine plan.
