As David declares that governments don’t declare justice, especially for the oppressed – we find that God does give us a refuge that is not found in the world
Psa 9:9 The LORD is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.
The second half of that verse, a refuge in times of trouble shows us that God is right there by our side when we are in dark times. Sometimes it is our darkest times that draw us closest to God. When we are living on easy street, chances are we aren’t really thinking of God – but when those bad times hit, suddenly we find ourselves clinging to God…why? Because He is our refuge in times of trouble, just like the verse says.
This should also call for some self examination here too though, do we always go to God in prayer, even in the good times, or just when we need Him?
On that note, here’s a quick one from Ecclesiastes that we should keep in mind on both the good seasons and bad seasons of our lives — Ecc 7:14 Enjoy prosperity while you can, but when hard times strike, realize that both come from God. Remember that nothing is certain in this life.
