Checking in now on our Friday Devotional in Psalms which condemns evil and let’s us know that it is God who driving the bus:
Psa 9:16 The LORD has made Himself known; He has executed judgment. In the work of his own hands the wicked is snared.
That’s telling us that God has made his presence known, He has penalized those who have sinned against him.
The verse goes on to say that wicked people dig their own graves….
Focusing in on that last bit, whenever we get into bad stuff or sin, we usually pay some kind of price if not the ultimate price, which is death, but looking at the toll sin wreaks on our own lives, it can get us thrown into jail, wipe out our finances, ruin our families, there is a litany of bad things that come our way when we break God’s laws. So the best way to avoid all of that is to not sin, or repent which means turn away from sin, and the only way to do that is through Christ.
Through Jesus, we are given new lives, basically a “do-over” while we are in this life, and when we set our sights on Christ and the life He lived and the gift He gave us, it helps us recognize those bad things that we used to want to do, and we are suddenly repulsed and embarrassed by it.
But that gift of life is only possible by putting our trust in Christ and obeying Him and living a new life that hates sin, but loves and lives to please God.
