Psalms 10: 17 — LORD, you know the hopes of the helpless.

Good word in today’s Psalms that reminds us that when we can’t get help from the world and people turn their backs on us, God is our shelter.  This is written against the backdrop of evil oppressors, robbers and theirs who prey upon the defenseless.  God Is a refuge to the forgotten:

Psa 10:17  LORD, you know the hopes of the helpless. Surely you will hear their cries and comfort them.

Psa 10:18  You will bring justice to the orphans and the oppressed, so mere people can no longer terrify them.

God hears the prayers of the afflicted and gives them peace, and today’s verse also says that God will give justice to those who are oppressed.  The courts and the world may forget about the forgotten, but God remembers and those who take advantage or the weak are going to have to answer for it.

HEre’s an important Proverb from the Bible, Proverbs 19 verse 17 that reminds us to watch out for those less fortunate:

Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done.

So rather than joining the masses in oppressing the poor, we should do what God tells us and help them.
