Keeping A Strong Prayer Life

David uses some very colorful phrasing to explain to us how David avoided a near death experience when he was being hunted down by Saul:

Psa 18:4  The cords of death encompassed me, And the torrents of ungodliness terrified me.

Psa 18:5  The cords of Sheol surrounded me; The snares of death confronted me.

Psa 18:6  In my distress I called upon the LORD, And cried to my God for help; He heard my voice out of His temple, And my cry for help before Him came into His ears.

That last verse shows us how God heard how David was in serious trouble, and answered David’s prayers, God rescued David and David lived to tell about it.

A very teachable moment here that when we are scared, we should always go to the Lord in prayer, God answers prayers, as today’s Psalms reveals to us for David, God heard David’s voice and David’s cries came to God’s ears.  In other words, God heard David’s prayer, God also hears our prayers, so remember to pray!

We are in some strange times right now with COVID, lots of things that we think we have control over, but ultimately do not, it is in God’s hands, and a great opportunity for us to commune with Him regularly through prayer, because He is listening, so let’s not forget to pray!
