Some good cause and effect today as it relates to God’s Word in Psalms Chapter 19
Psa 19:7 The instructions of the LORD are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
God’s instructions and decrees, which are revealed to us in the Bible, do 2 things to us when we receive them. It revives us, or gives us life. Before understanding God’s divine plan of redemption, we were dead in sin, but God’s Commands points out our sin and shows us God’s plan of redemption through His Son Jesus and path of repentance, or putting aside our old sinful ways and living a life that is pleasing to God. That’s revival part.
The verse also says that The Word makes wise the simple, or gives wisdom. Wisdom per the Bible is defined as living in fear of the Lord. The simple person, or the fool doesn’t care about that, and just lives to please themselves…instant gratification or vices like porn, over indulging on food and movies, etc…these things are what make a simple minded person content, but God’s Word tells us that these idols anger God, and when we stop worshipping these idols and start worshipping God, we are made wise, all of which is broken down to us throughout the Bible, hence the phrasing “making wise the simple”
When we are living according to God’s Word, we are no longer simple.
