Psalms 20:3 – Christ, Our Perfect Sacrifice

More great petitions in our Psalms on the eve of battle where Israel is appealing to God to hear their prayers:

Psa 20:3  May He remember all your meal offerings And find your burnt offering acceptable! Selah.

In the Old Covenant or in the days of Mosaic law, Israel would commune with God through various offerings, burnt offerings, meal offerings were all ways that Israel would appeal to God for forgives of their sins and His divine protection over them.

Here in 2022 we are in the New Covenant, and we appeal to God through His Son, there is no longer the need for burnt offerings or sacrificial lambs, when Christ is the Ultimate Sacrificial Lamb, and Jesus just before He left us, tells us that when we make appeals to God, we do so in His name as He spells out for us in John 16:28:  “In that day you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I will request of the Father on your behalf;   for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me and have believed that I came forth from the Father.  “I came forth from the Father and have come into the world; I am leaving the world again and going to the Father.”

So this gives us a better understanding of how we offer prayers today in 2022, versus how Israel was doing it back in the Old Testament,  The New Covenant, or New Contract with God is made with us through His Son, so when appeal to God, we do so through our Intermediary, Christ Jesus; i.e. The way to the Father Is through the Son.
