Our Psalms paints a pretty dark picture today for enemies of God, in fact it gets really specific of those who turn their backs on God:
Psa 21:8-12 Your hand will find out all your enemies; your right hand will find out those who hate you. You will make them as a blazing oven when you appear. The LORD will swallow them up in his wrath, and fire will consume them. You will destroy their descendants from the earth, and their offspring from among the children of man. Though they plan evil against you, though they devise mischief, they will not succeed. For you will put them to flight; you will aim at their faces with your bows.
Some scary details in there without question! The reality is there are two ways to live, in Christ and out of Christ. Those who are in Christ receive God’s blessings, while those who walk in the darkness and sin, get God’s anger. Christ’s death and sacrifice are what spare us from all of those nightmares that today’s Word spells out, which is definitely not a place we would want to be.
A lot of times we can foolishly think, I’ll live my best life now, or enjoy my sin, and get right with God when I am ready…but what happens if we die tomorrow? Then what? We woefully act like we are all going to live to 80 years old, and maybe some of us will, but some of us might die in the next 5 years, 5 months or 5 days? The other side of this fast life is quickly approaching and it is eternal…do we want the dark side of God’s wrath, or do we want to receive His eternal blessings that He gave us through His Son? The answer is clear, but the way to the Father is through The Son, and we do that by making Christ the center of our lives, stop our sinful ways and putting our trust in the undeniable fact that He rose on the 3rd day for us, because He loves us.
