Psalms 22:11 —  Lord, Be not far from me

Psalms today demonstrates our complete reliance on God when times are hard, in this case it was when Christ was on the cross, there was no help from the masses; there are times in our own lives where we find ourselves in the same level of despair:

Psa 22:11  Be not far from me, for trouble is near; For there is none to help.

The verse is saying, Lord stay close to me, because I am under siege and You, Lord are the only one who can help me, no one else is!

If we have ever found ourselves in similar circumstances, maybe not being hung up on a cross, like our Dear Savior, but found ourselves in a helpless situation; a sick relative, a car accident, a natural disaster…we also appeal to God, just as both Christ and David did…it is times like these where we are closest to God; when we are enjoying a carefree life that is full of God’s blessings, God tends to be an afterthought, but boy – when times get tough, that is when we are closest to God.  Us sheep may tend to wander, but our Shepherd is always there.
