Psalms 22:12-13

Checking in here with our the Messianic Psalms that are forecasting the circumstances surrounding Christ’s crucifixion;

Psa 22:12  Many bulls have surrounded me; Strong bulls of Bashan have encircled me.

Psa 22:13  They open wide their mouth at me, As a ravening and a roaring lion.

Noting there that the text talks about the Bulls of Bashan, Bashan, which is now Northern Syria, but Bashan was once under Israel rule, so these Bulls of Bashan were Israelites, and if we look at the Biblical narratives of the New Testament, it was the Israelites in Jerusalem who conspired against Jesus and wanted Him to be crucified.

So these Israelites, who have surrounded Jesus have been likened to a roaring lion — it is Hard to think of scarier circumstances than being encircled by ravenous, angry lions – yet that is the kind of anxiety and anguish that Christ endured on our behalf, Christ became our sin, so that we could be made right with God.
