Daily Devotional For Friday May 20th

Good reality checking the Proverbs on keeping out anger in line and not lashing out when we get triggered:

Pro 20:22  Do not say, “I will repay evil”; Wait for the LORD, and He will save you.

Our egotistical pride likes to respond in kind when someone insults or offends us or someone in our family.  We are wronged and want to get the wrongdoer back just as badly whether it is with words or deeds.  But today, God’s Word commands us against just that, do not repay evil!  We should not lash out at someone because they started a conflict, instead, Proverbs instructs us to wait for the Lord, because God sees everything and God will save us.  It might not be on the terms we immediately desire, for instance, the person who cut us off in traffic is not likely to be struck by lightening, but God sees and settles everything on God’s terms and not man’s.  Moreover, God elevates the lowly and humbles the proud.  Getting “even” is rooted in pride and self love, and God hates pride.
