Proverbs 1:32-33 – The way to life and way to death

Proverbs today breaks down 2 paths we can take, one is life and one is death:

The first verse is speaking about people who turn their back on wisdom, or living a life that is pleasing to God, the subject here is not trying to understand that Christ is the only relief we have from our lifetime of sinning, they think eh…I’ll get right with God when I feel like it, in the meantime, I’m just gonna to whatever I want, so this verse focuses on the fool:

Pro 1:32  For simpletons turn away from me—to death. Fools are destroyed by their own complacency.

The fool is destroyed by his own complacency, or lack of effort, death comes like a thief in the night, we have no idea when we are going to go, and the one who sits idly, rotting away in their own vices and desires is destroyed, they waited to get right with God before it was too late.

The next verse talks about the righteous path that we can take, listening and obeying God:

Pro 1:33  But all who listen to me will live in peace, untroubled by fear of harm.”

God watches over His children, whether it is in this life or the next one.  Those who live with a biblical worldview will live in peace, there will be no enmity with God, but those who chase after their own desires are in for a rude awakeneing.  The choice is clear, we want the path of peace, which is through Jesus.
